Basic professions in publishing applied to library publishing

Abstract:

Publishing is a complex activity that involves a number of highly skilled professionals, such as editor, graphic editor, designer, language editor, proofreader, etc. Therefore, coordination and teamwork are necessary as well as an organised set of procedures that leads to a successful final product – a publication. This chapter describes the key professions that are part of the publishing process, considered from the library publisher’s point of view. All procedures have to be performed by skilled professionals regardless of whether some of them will be outsourced or done in-house.
