Put together very simple staging for your monologue. This will include your entrance and your exit, both of which you will rehearse. If you choose to use a chair – see my note about it below – move it into place before you announce your name, number and audition package.
Blocking and How to Move (Because You Must Move)
Substantively, with blocking – which is motivation with movement – you will first establish a ‘performance’ space for yourself onstage. This can be done by drawing an imaginary circle all around yourself stage center, about four or five feet on all four sides of you. In Fig. 7.1 you can get an idea.
