Testing Mobile AJAX Applications

We should be able to automate many aspects of testing Mobile AJAX applications. We have several options in terms of automation, including: using desktop test automation tools; using embedded browsers; and even automating some of the more complete device emulators, such as the iPhone emulator included in Apple's development tools.

5.1 USING DESKTOP BROWSER AUTOMATION TOOLS

Desktop browser automation tools have a long pedigree and there are tens of tools available, both commercial and free-of-charge. I'll cover two free open-source desktop browser tools: Selenium (http://selenium.openqa.org/), and WebDriver (http://code.google.com/p/webdriver/).
