Most readers will be familiar with the film The Truman Show about the life of Truman Burbank, a man who has grown up within a vast simulated reality. Quite unbeknownst to him, everyone who surrounds him, including his wife, is an actor, and hidden cameras broadcast his every moment to the rest of the world.
