8. Signal Analysis and Compliance

The proliferation of new bus standards and the need for interoperability has focused new attention on analysis and testing to achieve compliance with these standards. This chapter examines how analyzing signal integrity is a major consideration for compliance testing. It describes the various standards, with particular emphasis on high-speed serial buses. It also shows why, at frequencies of more than 2.5 GHz, real-time test and measurement is the only way to achieve compliance.
