Strain Transformations
Purpose of Lesson To develop the standard second-order tensor transformations for representing strains in rotated coordinate systems and to extend these transformations to higher order strain gradient quantities to provide a better understanding of the strain modeling characteristics of individual finite elements.
The availability of these transformations in a strain gradient context allows the strain modeling characteristics of individual finite elements to be identified with an a priori analysis during element formulation.
