Finite Difference Boundary Condition Models

Purpose of Lesson To present and validate the finite difference boundary condition models for straight edges, curved edges, and convex and concave corners that enable plane stress problems of any configuration to be represented.

In the previous lesson, an approach based on strain gradient notation for creating finite difference representations of plane stress models was introduced. The finite difference models used to illustrate the developments were rectangular regions with fixed boundaries based on nine-node central difference templates.
