Manage Communications

Manage Communications is the process of creating, collecting, distributing, storing, retrieving, and the ultimate disposition in accordance with the communications management plan. The main method the project manager uses to accomplish everything in the project is communication. Thus, managing communications occurs from the start of the project to the finish. Communication takes place verbally, in written form, or electronically. It can be formal or informal, planned or spontaneous, intentional or unintentional. The Manage Communications process looks at means and methods of communicating project information. It is the implementation of the communications management plan.

Figure 17-1 shows the inputs, tools and techniques and outputs for the Manage Communications process. Figure 17-2 shows a data flow diagram for the Manage Communications process.
