Control Communications

Control Communications is the process of monitoring and controlling communications throughout the entire project lifecycle to ensure the information needs of project stakeholders are met. Essentially the Control Communications process seeks to ensure that the right people are getting the correct information in a timely manner. If they aren’t, the change process is initiated through this process.

Figure 25-1 shows the inputs, tools and techniques and outputs for the Control Communications process. Figure 25-2 shows a data flow diagram for the Control Communications process.

The project management plan contains the communications management plan and stakeholder management plan which identify the stakeholders who need project communications, when they will receive the information, and the format of the information.
