Chapter 10. Get Splashy: Style Sheets, Fonts, and Special Characters

HTML, in its most ideal form, is application-neutral. Pages created in HTML (and even more so in XHTML) should render as completely and informatively on a cell phone’s display or a palm-held computer as they do in a full-fledged graphical browser application on a Windows or Macintosh computer. As mentioned in previous chapters, this is done by separating the styling of a page from the content and organization of that page. This chapter discusses that styling, and also touches on the less ideal ways that you can style your page—the transitional options.
