The human eye interprets a series of changing images as motion. Animation can consist of two or more images that are played one after the other, or repeated over and over again. Full-motion animation can range from 12 to 30 frames per second. Cartoon characters, such as Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse, are likely to be the first cartoon characters you think of when you see the word “animation.” However, over the years, digital imaging (also known as CGI, computer-generated images) and digital special effects have put animation center stage in live-action television and film, as well as for computer-generated and hand-drawn cartoons. ...
