FreeBSD and SNMP

Emailed reports are nice but general, and logs are difficult to analyze for long-term trends. The industry standard for network, server, and service management is Simple Network Management Protocol, or SNMP. Many different vendors support SNMP as a protocol for gathering information from many different devices across the network. FreeBSD includes an SNMP agent, bsnmpd(8), that not only provides standard SNMP functions but also gives visibility to FreeBSD-specific features.
