Designing the Domain Structure
Once the question of how many forests you will deploy has been settled, the next step is to determine the domain structure within each of the forests. Your first task is to document the current directory services configuration and determine how much of the current infrastructure can be upgraded and what will need to be restructured or replaced. You will then determine how many domains you require as well as the domain hierarchy.
