One More Step: Third Party Components and Emailing Users
Now that we've got our auctions set up, there's one more nice thing that we can do for our users: we can email them if they've been outbid, so they are prompted to come back to our site and take another look. (After all, getting them to come back is why we did all this!) Of course, we can't send email directly with what ASP provides for us. Instead we have to use a third-party component.
Components are one of the really great things about Active Server Pages. You can build a component in just about any language and then plug it in to your application and call it from your pages to do things that you normally couldn't do.
