Chapter 8. Making Accessible Documents in Acrobat

Governments all over the world have introduced key legislation, such as Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act in the United States, requiring that electronic and information technology be accessible to people with disabilities. With such importance now placed on accessibility in technology, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Acrobat 7 Professional contains many options, testing routines, tools, and wizards for making content in your PDF files accessible to people with visual or motor impairments who work with screen readers and other assistive devices. An accessible PDF document can be read in Acrobat 7 or Adobe Reader 7, as well as in earlier versions of the programs.
