Adding Text

The layer GROW YOUR is an Illustrator layer. We can animate it just like any other layer. However, it’s difficult to animate each letter at a time. If we instead recreate this layer as a text layer, not only do we have options to change the font and style, but we can also add a powerful text animator that lets us animate on a per-letter basis.

Creating a Text Layer

  • Click the eyeball on the GROW YOUR layer to switch it off. We won’t be needing that anymore.
  • Select the Type tool, either from the toolbar or with ⌘-T/Ctrl-T.
  • Click once on the left side of the blue banner in the Composition panel.
  • Type GROW YOUR.
