Character Animation

Let’s make our character move a little. After Effects users have been creating all sorts of various plug-ins to help animate characters—DUIK, RubberHose, and Joysticks ’n Sliders to name a few. For now, let’s focus on the tools that come with the software. The Puppet tool is a simple yet effective way to manipulate a precreated character. We can use it to make a rig, which lets us bend certain parts of the character. In this section, we’ll have our Fella bend his arm up and down as he roasts his marshmallow.

It’ll be easiest to work with the camera zoomed in a little, so I’ll be working on this section at the 5-second mark in the timeline.
