Desktop applications, like Web pages, rely on more than just text for their content. In this chapter you’ll learn how to use three specific kinds of media in an AIR application: sounds, PDFs, and XML data.
The bulk of the chapter focuses on sounds, specifically MP3s. Using sounds in an AIR application isn’t complicated, but there’s lots that can be done with them, so you’ll see four examples that illustrate the available options.
