5. Working with Vector Graphics

Lesson overview

You can draw almost any shape in Fireworks by using vectors. In this lesson, you’ll work on vector graphics for both the Near North website project from Lesson 3 and the Local mobile app you were introduced to in Lesson 2. You will also use the Properties panel and Subselection tool to modify vectors you’ve created. In this lesson, you’ll learn how to do the following:

• Draw simple vector shapes

• Identify the differences between vector and bitmap images

• Use the Compound Shape tool

• Create paths with the Pen and Line tools

• Edit paths with the Pen and Subselection tools

• Create a custom shape

• Use Auto Shapes

• Customize the fill and stroke of a vector shape
