Creating small graphics files is key to distributing images on the World Wide Web. With smaller files, Web servers can store and transmit images more efficiently, and viewers can download images more quickly. You decrease file size by saving your artwork in one of several compressed file formats like GIF, JPEG, or PNG.
Other formats used on the Web include SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics), Macromedia Flash (SWF), and HTML. SVG is an XML-based language for describing interactive, animated, two-dimensional graphics.
