Using the Pattern Maker to create a picture frame

In previous versions of Photoshop you could generate tiled patterns, but the new Pattern Maker in Photoshop 7.0 marks a significant improvement in this functionality. Using this new feature, you can generate multiple, seamless patterns that you can use anywhere in your images.

Defining a new pattern

You’ll use a prepared texture file as the basis of your custom pattern.

1.
Choose File > Open, and open the Texture.jpg in your Lessons/Lesson08 folder.

In the toolbar, make sure that the background color is white, and then choose Image > Canvas Size.

In the Canvas Size dialog box, change the units to pixels, and set Width at 780 and Height at 580. Then click OK.
4.
Choose Filter > Pattern ...
