The Blending Sliders

The Blending sliders are found by choosing Layer > Layer Style > Blending Options, or by double-clicking in the empty area to the right of a layer’s name in the Layers panel. Look at the top set of sliders, labeled “This Layer” (Figure 9.120). These sliders show or hide part of a layer based on its brightness, a very useful trick when the subject of a photograph is radically brighter (such as lightning or fireworks) or darker (such as text) than the background.
