Now that you have a feel for some of Photoshop's fundamental concepts, it's time to explore some of the amazing tools in Photoshop CS3 and how they're used in the creative portion of the digital workflow. We start off with one of Photoshop's most recognizable toolsets: the selection tools. In this section you'll see how the various selection tools work, and how they can be combined to quickly create perfect selections.
Then you move one of the most important things you can learn in this part, working with layer masks. If you've never used layer masks, prepare to have your Photoshop world shift because once you learn to use them it will change your Creative Workflow forever. That's because layer masks are one of the keys to developing a flexible, nondestructive editing workflow in Photoshop.
A little farther along in this part, you explore Photoshop's primary retouching tools and how they're used to remove improve digital photos. The things you learn here prepare you for Part V, where you put these tools to work solving various retouching problems.
