• Jump back to Photoshop Elements by right-clicking the image in Project
view and choosing Edit Original from the context menu. Adjust the
position of the thought bubble, and save the changes. e appearance of the
image will automatically update when you switch back to Adobe Premiere
Elements.

Editing an Adobe Photoshop image
in Adobe Premiere Elements
You can edit a Photoshop Elements image while you’re working in Adobe Premiere
Elements, using the Edit in Photoshop Elements command. Changes you make to
the image will be updated automatically, even if the clip is already placed in your
Sceneline or Timeline.
1 Switch to the Timeline in the My Project panel. If necessary, scroll to see the
Video 2 track.
2 Click to select the Word_Balloon.psd clip, superimposed on Video 2 track in
your Timeline. Notice that the duration of the superimposed image is slightly
longer than the slide, which was shortened 15 frames by the transition that
precedes it on the Timeline.

3 To adjust the duration of the superimposed thought bubble, position the pointer
at the right edge of Word_Balloon.psd in the Video 2 track. When the pointer
changes to Trim Out tool (
), drag to the left until its right edge matches that
of the B0000027.jpg clip. en release the mouse button.
4 Right-click the Word_Balloon.psd clip in the Timeline and choose Edit in
Adobe Photoshop Elements from the context menu. e Word_Balloon.psd fi le
opens in Adobe Photoshop Elements.
5 Select the Horizontal Type tool ( ), which is grouped with the Vertical Type
tool in the toolbox.
6 Position your pointer inside the thought bubble near the left edge, and then
click once to add an insertion point.
7 At the bottom of the toolbox, click the Default Foreground and Background
Colors button. You will use the default black foreground color for your text.
8 In the tool options bar, click the Font Family menu and choose Arial from the
list of fonts. In the font size menu, select 36 pt.

9 Using the Type tool, enter the following phrase in the text layer: Can we
eat yet?
10 Select the Move tool ( ) in the toolbox and drag the text to center it properly
in the thought bubble. If necessary, select the Shape 1 layer in the Layers panel,
and then use the handles of the bounding box of the text bubble shape to adjust
its size. When you’re fi nished, click the green Commit button to commit the
changes.
11 Choose File > Save, overwriting the Word_Balloon.psd fi le in the Lesson13
folder. Close the fi le, and then switch to Adobe Premiere Elements. e
changes made to the Word_Balloon.psd fi le in Adobe Photoshop Elements have
automatically been updated in the Adobe Premiere Elements project. is is
very useful because it removes the need to re-import an image fi le every time a
change is made.
12 If necessary, click the thought bubble in the Monitor panel to select it, and then
drag to reposition it. Because the image is on a transparent layer, it can be easily
repositioned.
13 Click the top of the Timeline to select it, and then press the Home key to place
the current-time indicator at the beginning of the Timeline. Press the spacebar
to play your project. When you’re fi nished reviewing, save your work.

Note: If your image
looks grainy, click the
B0000027.jpg clip to
exit Title-editing mode.
Then right-click the
Monitor panel and
choose Magnifi cation >
100% from the menu.
