Proxies

Sometimes, Premiere will get bogged down due to a video’s high bitrate or a lack of sufficient processing power. In such cases, you may consider creating proxies of your video files—that is, lower-resolution and -bitrate video files to temporarily replace your video files while you work. The beauty of Premiere’s proxy workflow is you can initiate it in a couple of clicks, and largely forget about it. Premiere will generate and link proxies for you, use them in the timeline, and automatically swap back to the original files upon export.
