Mixing 5.1 Sound

If you’re editing audio to be played on a 5.1 surround system (that is, a system with six speakers—one for left, right, center, low frequency effects (LFE), rear left, and rear right), you’ll have to edit them in a 5.1 sequence, then export them to a format that supports a 5.1 audio channel (in the export dialog box, that’s found under Audio > Basic Audio Settings > Channels). Typically, one edits a program in stereo, which is then mixed to 5.1 by an audio engineer using standalone audio software, but let’s see what tools are available to us in Premiere.
