To change the parameters of an existing connection, open the Databases panel, right-click
(Control+click) the connection, and select Edit Connection. The type of connection determines which
dialog box opens; a DSN connection, for example, opens the Data Source Name (DSN) dialog box.
Although you can alter any of the existing parameters during an editing session, you cannot switch
from a DSN-type connection to a DSN-less–type connection via the Edit option. In addition, Dream-
weaver does not allow you to rename an existing connection. With a bit of sleight of hand, however,
you can make the conversion and keep all of your connections valid. To convert a connection from
DSN to a DSN-less or OLE DB type connection, follow these steps:
1. Create a new connection of the desired type using one of the procedures described previ-
ously. This is a temporary connection that will be removed in the final step.
2. Right-click (Control+click) the old DSN connection from the Databases panel and choose
Delete Connection. It’s a good idea to jot down the name of the original connection before
deleting it; you use the same name later in this procedure.
3. Dreamweaver warns you that this action cannot be undone. Choose OK to proceed.
4. Right-click (Control+click) the new connection and select Duplicate Connection. The
