As you can see, it’s easy to use Illustrator to export FXG to be used as skin artwork. It also allows for the
flexibility to create highly-customized user interfaces in Flex. You can take this example further by making
more advanced skins and skinning additional Flex components.
Summary
We started by covering the Spark style support and the difference between CSS and Spark skins. We then
showed you how to build a theme using Illustrator and Flash Catalyst as well as a theme that includes both
Flex 4 and Flex 3 components.
After we created the themes, we showed you how to integrate them into Flash Builder and the Flex 4 plug-
in for Eclipse. We hope this chapter will help you create your own Spark skins and integrate them into your
project so you can reuse these skins or share them with the Flex community.
