Abstract:

This chapter discusses the research and development of inorganic membranes for syngas processing, which is a critical step in H2 production. The chapter presents an introduction to syngas processing, followed by the basic principles of membrane and membrane reactor operation. Of particular importance here is the coupling of catalysts with membranes as membrane reactor unit operations which shifts the CO conversion of the water gas shift reaction above its equilibrium.
