Shopping for vegetables and groceries at a local (bricks and mortar) market has been part of the Indian culture for several decades. The distinguishing feature between such shopping done in the West and in India is that, until urbanization caught on, consumers used to go to the market and buy groceries and vegetables on a daily basis. There were, quite literally, millions of roadside vendors who catered to such a demand (WIEGO, n.d.). However, this landscape is slowly changing. Online purchase of groceries has been registering an upward trend for the last five years or so (Chaudhary, 2018).
