Where Did Agile Ideas Originate?

A misconception continues that Agile was an approach created for software development, but it actually came from business theories that were first used in the manufacturing and construction industries. In a manufacturing plant during the early 19th century, there were unskilled day laborers working on a manufacturing assembly line. Someone figured out if we could look at each movement they made, and make sure each person did it just the same way, we could find the fastest way to make cars, sewing machines, or shoes.
