The Importance of Community
When I got my first DEIB job, I was part of a team of two people. When I transitioned to my next role, it was just me for a few years plus an intern here and there before I got a team under me. And the next role after that was another one where I was the only DEIB person at the company. It was apparent to me early on that I needed to find my community of DEIB professionals so I wouldn’t feel isolated as the only person in this function at those companies.
