CHAPTER 7: ISN’T SERVICE MANAGEMENT BORING?
In asking this question, it’s obvious that I have a bias, but in truth, I can see why some people may think service management is boring. It is a difficult career choice to explain.
It’s not like you can say “I’m a carpenter” or ‘I’m a soccer player”, or to return to the earlier conversation, “I’m a ceramicist”. Each of these career choices is clear to someone who is not in that role. You can see the outcome of their work and imagine their day-to-day activities. Service management as a career is harder to explain, and this can lead to the perception that it’s boring.
