Issues

The global market structure has significant benefits, but global trading and widespread ownership of instruments create significant problems (see Figure 1.5). Our discussion of global trading practices in the preceding chapter hints at some of those problems. However, every aspect of trading—every issue we have discussed so far plus issues of risk, compliance, and regulation described in the next three parts—is much more complex in a global environment.
