Markets

Markets are places, both formal and informal, where securities and other instruments can be traded between owners of instruments who wish to sell their instruments and prospective buyers who want to purchase the securities. In this chapter, we focus only on the entities that provide market services. Figure 1.3 shows the roles performed by any market or trading venue however it is organized.
