Organization

Many entities in the financial markets maintain a network organization separate from other technology groups, but other organizations simply have a single technology group. Whatever the structure of the organization, the tasks required to manage all communications within an entity require unique skills and training.

The major categories of network activities include network architecture, procurement, finance, and operations. This conceptual structure is shown in Figure 3.5.
