
Digital multimedia, or “new media” as it is sometimes called, has created a revolu-
tion in communications, commerce, and entertainment. An Introduction to Digital
Multimedia was written with the belief that effective use of modern multimedia
requires a new combination of knowledge and skills—some centered on the key-
