Troubleshooting a development device

Having trouble connecting an Android development device to a computer can mean any of the following:

  • Your host system is not properly set up
  • Your development device is not working properly
  • The ADB service is malfunctioning

If the problem comes from your host system, check your device manufacturer instructions carefully to make sure any needed driver is correctly installed. Check the Hardware properties to see if it is recognized and turn on the USB storage mode (if applicable) to see if it is working properly.
