Chapter 10. Building an Application Theme

Whether graphical styling or not, every application has a theme. The theme of an application is what gives it a distinct appearance and logic.

When a person uses a mobile application (which accounts for most Android devices), there are some fundamental differences in their behavior when compared to a desktop or laptop:

  • They often have less time for the application, and therefore less patience
  • They are often focused entirely on a single application at a time
  • Touchscreen devices encourage an almost tactile response
