Loading a Reference Movie

Before you can use the video tracking feature, you’ll need to load in a movie. This is done using the File, Import, Movie menu command. The video formats that can be loaded include the AVI and QuickTime formats. You can learn more about loading movie files in Chapter 22, “Adding Image Layers.”

Note

Within the Library, Movies folder are several sample movies that you can try out.

If the loaded movie has a clean, clear background, then the tracking will have an easier time following objects in the movie. Also, make sure that your movie has some action, and it is best if the objects in the movie don’t move too fast. Video tracking has a tough time with blurry objects.
