PROJECT 1 HARLEQUIN PATTERN
I find painting patterns to be very relaxing, and it’s a great way to practice when you don’t have a subject in mind. When I find myself a bit tired, down, or with a case of painter’s block, I just paint a series of abstract and geometric patterns. Repeating a pattern without thinking about a subject clears the mind, allowing me to enjoy painting and playing with colors.
I love painting a harlequin motif, which is a repeating pattern made of diamond shapes. I usually split those diamonds into triangles. You can repeat the pattern as long as you want or enclose it within another shape.
