INSPIRATION

When I first started as an illustrator, I found it difficult to look at another artists’ work, as it seemed I couldn’t be inspired by someone without starting to copy that artist. But, with time, I learned a lot from others. Don’t be afraid to mimic or draw a strong sense of inspiration from another artist’s style or technique when you are first starting out. Imitation is one way to learn. What is important is to be clear about what comes from others and to develop your own sense of style. If you put a lot of personal history and inspiration into your work, it will be yours and yours only. If you show your work online, remember it is very important to always credit the artist or illustrator who inspired your work.
