Scaling in CloudStack

CloudStack provides a feature of auto scaling of applications horizontally, that is, by increasing the number of instances of the application. This is an important feature as the users might need to auto scale instances based on the number of requests. Auto scaling features allow scaling up as well as scaling down the servers running users' application or services based on various conditions. These conditions can be defined by users. For example, if the number of requests increases for a web application running on a server is more than the amount one server of a particular configuration can handle, the server must be scaled out in order to ensure smooth functioning of the application.
