Installing the YMLD Application

Two versions of the YMLD Windows program are available on the book's Web site (www.ibmpressbooks.com/title/0131855255). The Visual Basic version is found in the Chapter 12 (VB6) link and uses RDO to access the YMLD database. The Visual Basic .NET version is found in the Chapter 12 (.NET) link and uses ODBC .NET support. Visual Basic and Visual Basic .NET share the same name and heritage, but there are significant differences between the development and programming models. This chapter does not discuss the design of the Visual Basic application, but it uses similar logic to the Visual Basic .NET version, so it should be easy to understand.
