As a data center kernel, Mesos serves a large variety of workloads and no single scheduler will be able to satisfy the needs of all different frameworks. For example, the way in which a real-time processing framework schedules its tasks will be very different from how a long running service will schedule its task, which, in turn, will be very different from how a batch processing framework would like to use its resources. This observation leads to a very important design decision in Mesos: separation of resource allocation and task scheduling.
