Much like a database file, a user space has the capability to increase the amount of storage it uses. When a user space is written to by a list API, the API will temporarily allow it to grow to the size needed to accommodate the returned data. The user space, however, will not grow beyond 16MB or the storage limit of your user profile.
To have a user space automatically extend itself independent of using it with a list API, use the Change User Space Attribute API (QUSCUSAT). Table 1.7 shows the parameters for QUSCUSAT.
