Using the Convert Date and Time Format API (QWCCVTDT)

Business applications often work with date and time values, as it’s frequently necessary to change a given value to a particular format, such as MMDDYYYY, in order to present the information to a user or another application. QWCCVTDT, the Convert Date and Time Format API, is very useful for this purpose. This section provides examples of several ways to use QWCCVTDT to get different formats for a given date or time value. These examples include the following:

  • Convert a date and time where the date portion is in YYYYMMDD format to a MMDDYYYY format, where YYYY is a four-digit year, MM is the month, and DD the day of month.
