This book’s genesis was in 1999, when Rick Sturm and Winston Bumpus collaborated to produce Foundations of Application Management (John Wiley and Sons, 1999). Sixteen years and millions of air miles later, Winston approached Rick with the suggestion that, since so much had changed regarding application management in the intervening period, they produce a new book on the topic.
