Spatial features can be represented in vector or raster format. So far we have discussed the vector related features of Oracle Spatial, and we introduce the raster related features called GeoRaster in this chapter. Traditional GISs propose to store raster data as BLOBs in the database. This approach might be sufficient if the raster data is only used as backdrop images in maps.
