Thermal and Moisture Protection

The following tables give some commonly needed reference information in tabular format for proper selection of building materials for thermal and moisture protection. In each case, knowing the circumstances of your building project, you can consult the appropriate table to assist you in making a preliminary decision.

For example, in selecting the proper sealant for a building condition, you will know the expected joint movement, the joint width, the materials to be sealed, and the environmental conditions the sealant must resist. By consulting Table 4E–3 you need only review the columns with the variables satisfying your criteria to find the recommended sealant types.
